Aerobic Cardiovascular FitnessOur hearts need our help to stay fit and healthy.
Without maintaining aerobic cardiovascular fitness, we are more prone to asthma, heart attacks, high blood pressure, and weight gain, among other things.
In order to keep our hearts functioning properly, our metabolisms working well, and our entire bodies in the best of health, it is important to incorporate aerobic fitness into our daily lives.
What constitutes as an aerobic cardiovascular fitness? Any exercise that speeds up your heart rate and keeps it steadily going for 20-30 minutes at a time is considered aerobic.
If you are unsure of how intense the exercise should be, you generally should be able to talk with mild difficulty. Singing and long bursts of conversation will likely be impossible.
Aerobic cardiovascular fitness can come in may forms. You might try swimming, running, brisk walking, ice skating, roller blading, jump roping, biking, kick boxing, dancing, etc.
There are so many varieties of aerobic sports that you will have no trouble finding one to try.
Many people dislike aerobic fitness because it demands energy and attention. When choosing an exercise (or exercises) for your aerobic cardiovascular fitness, try to find something you really enjoy.
If you have fun performing an activity, it will be something you will want to come back to again and again. The exercise will seem less like sweat and work and more like pleasure.
When performing any type of aerobic exercise, be sure to drink enough water before, during, and after the work out so you do not get dehydrated.
Do not eat or drink too much before hand that you give yourself cramps. Stay away from caffeine immediately before an aerobic workout as it can leave you dehydrated and jittery.
Finally, remember to cool down and stretch properly following the workout to prevent soreness the next day.
