Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory disease affecting the central nervous system.

Early detection is important so treatment can begin as soon as possible. Multiple sclerosis symptoms also accompany other conditions, so experiencing one or more of them does not necessarily mean a person has MS.

However, it is important to be seen by a physician if any of the symptoms are experienced repeatedly so multiple sclerosis can be ruled out.

While the number of symptoms vary from patient to patient, the earliest multiple sclerosis symptoms often begin to appear between the ages of 20 and 40.

Impaired vision is often one of the first symptoms to show up. Other early symptoms include trouble with balance, weakness in limbs, and/or numbness and tingling.

Often, those suffering from multiple sclerosis will slowly lose their coordination, dropping things seemingly without reason. Since multiple sclerosis affects the nerves, muscle spasms are a frequent problem.

An MS patient will sometimes lose control of his/her bladder and bowels. This can cause to the retaining of urine and constipation. When this occurs frequently, it can lead to serious infection.

Extreme fatigue is another one of the most common of multiple sclerosis symptoms. The fatigue is not explainable and is not affected by the amount of work or rest the individual has.

In fact, MS patients often complain that they experience fatigue after a perfectly good night's rest. As the disease continues, it often becomes more difficult to speak clearly.

The deterioration of these same nerves also leads to difficulty in swallowing.

The progression and severity of multiple sclerosis symptoms varies widely between those who suffer from MS. Some will spend their entire lives basically unaffected, while others end up debilitated and bound to a wheelchair.

The reasons for the vast difference is not known at this time.
